If you’re new to handguns, your first lesson should feel safe, structured, and confidence-building. Here’s what we cover in a beginner handgun basics lesson at Hive Defense Academy.

Safety first (always)

We start with the core safety rules, safe handling, and how to verify a firearm is unloaded.

If you’re bringing your own firearm, we’ll confirm it’s safe and help you get comfortable with it.

Grip, stance, and trigger control

Small adjustments make a big difference. We coach fundamentals that reduce recoil and improve accuracy.

You’ll learn what ‘good’ feels like so you can repeat it on your own.

What to bring

• Eye and ear protection (we can recommend options)

• Closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing

• Any questions you have—no question is too basic
