Overview: Dive into firearm training with Hive Defense Academy’s Foundations to CCW Mastery, a comprehensive 20-hour program that blends the 5-hour Foundations of Firearm Confidence course with the 15-hour Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) Course. As a family-owned business, we provide a judgment-free environment for beginners and seasoned learners, building confidence, safety, and skills for responsible firearm ownership. This combined course equips new shooters with foundational techniques and progresses to full CCW certification, ensuring a thorough understanding of legal responsibilities and practical application.
Course Details:
Format: 100% in-person, conducted over three days (Typically: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Other days and times can be requested if needed, email hivedefenseacademy@gmail.com).
Day 1 (Friday): 5-hour Foundations session focusing on pistol safety, components, proper handling, marksmanship basics, and introductory defensive shooting techniques to establish a solid skill base.
Day 2 (Saturday): Full day of classroom instruction covering firearm safety, New Mexico CCW regulations, legal responsibilities, and advanced handling techniques.
Day 3 (Sunday): Approximately 3 hours of live-fire range time for CCW qualification, supplemented with additional classroom content to reinforce learning.
Firearm Options: Bring your own handgun (caliber to qualify with) or rent one for $10 (call 505-810-2277 for availability and caliber options).
Requirements: Bring 200 rounds of factory-fresh ammunition (100 for Foundations, 50 for CCW), hearing and eye protection, and weather-appropriate clothing (closed toe shoes, pants, and not sleeveless or tank tops, weather updates provided in advance).
Ammo Package (Optional): Available for $20-$70 for 50 rounds of your chosen caliber, subject to availability.
Additional Information:
Inclusions: Course fee covers instructional materials, a Foundations completion certificate, and a CCW certificate of completion (valid for New Mexico DPS licensing), plus range access.
State Fees: Separate costs include an initial DPS application fee of approximately $100 and fingerprinting at $59, handled externally.
Taxes: Fees are subject to New Mexico gross receipts tax (approx. 7-8%, depending on location).
